⚠️ **Public Safety Notice – Stay Away from Ditches and Drains** ⚠️

Due to the recent heavy rainfall and ongoing flood conditions, water levels in municipal ditches, drains, and waterways are extremely high and flowing rapidly. These conditions create dangerous currents, unstable banks, and hidden hazards beneath the water's surface.

Residents are urged to stay away from all ditches, drains, culverts, and flooded areas. Parents are asked to ensure children do not play near waterways, flooded roads, or drainage channels. Pet owners should also keep their animals away from these areas.

Even shallow moving water can be extremely dangerous. Please exercise caution and avoid all unnecessary travel through flooded areas.

The RM of St. François Xavier thanks residents for their cooperation as we continue to monitor conditions and respond to this flooding event.

⚠️ ROAD CLOSURE & LANDFILL CLOSURE NOTICE ⚠️

⚠️ ROAD CLOSURE & LANDFILL CLOSURE NOTICE ⚠️

Due to the unprecedented rainfall received overnight, Rosser Road is closed until further notice and the RM Landfill will be closed today.

Residents are urged not to drive on roads covered by floodwater. Hidden washouts, soft roadbeds, and other hazards may be present beneath the water surface.

Please note that floodwaters may take time to recede as drainage conditions are dependent on the level of the Assiniboine River. Municipal staff are monitoring conditions and will provide updates as they become available.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation. Stay safe. 🚧🌧️

Can you add a request that residents facing emergency situations contact the RM

Certainly. I would add the following paragraph near the end of the notice, just before the closing paragraph:

Residents experiencing emergency flooding situations that threaten access to their property, public safety, or critical infrastructure are encouraged to contact the RM Office as soon as possible. Municipal staff are actively monitoring conditions throughout the municipality and will respond to urgent situations as resources permit. In the event of an immediate threat to life or safety, residents should call 911.

For the social media version, you could add:

Residents experiencing emergency flooding situations are encouraged to contact the RM Office. Municipal staff are monitoring conditions and will respond to urgent issues as resources permit. If there is an immediate threat to life or safety, call 911.

This addition strikes a balance between encouraging residents to report urgent concerns while making it clear that life-safety emergencies should be directed to emergency services.
